Joe Perry - Desert Holy Man

Every rough group of desert explorers ought to have a chaplain, and
that’s where Joe comes in.
Joe can be described as the “original desert dog”.
He has been exploring the Mojave Desert for at least the past
forty years. He states that he has always had a spiritual connection to
the desert and its past inhabitants. “I call the desert The Creator’s
great outdoor church. I
feel perfectly safe and at peace in the desert wilderness”.
Joe Perry has conducted his own in depth studies on
the prehistory of the desert region and has been involved in
archeological surveys and preservation for many years.
Joe has a very keen eye and has been told by Native
American friends that he has a spiritual connection to locating the
older sites of the desert's “Ancient Ones”.
“I’m not sure how to explain it; but I often feel
as if I am lead to many of the sites I have found throughout the years;
and can easily visualize the activities that occurred there,” said Joe.
He is knowledgeable about some of the theories
surrounding petroglyphs, such as possible meanings and reasons for
carving certain shapes.
