Rodman Mountains

The Rodman Tea Party

This time, the Dogs return to the Rodman Mountains under more favorable weather conditions then before. While exploring a long canyon for petroglyphs, they encounter black widows, killer bees, and a galling wasp. Joe starts his own spirit quest and winds up hallucinating and then wandering off into the desert.

This episode is not called a 'Tea Party' because of political affiliations (though admittedly the subjects of guns and religion came up numerous times); it's because they drank tea most of the weekend.

The Vandalism of Inscription Canyon

After checking out Black Canyon, it only made sense to visit Inscription Canyon, which was only a few miles away over some fairly rugged terrain. The rains of the previous days made the road almost impassable, and so the Dogs decided to hike to an area called Scout's Cove, and then go down into Inscription Canyon. What they find in Inscription Canyon, only emboldened them to do more in the service of archaeology.

Showdown at Surprise Canyon

After spending the night at one end of the Black Mountain Wilderness, the Dogs start the long haul around the mountain all the way to Inscription Canyon. But first, they stop at Black Canyon. Black Canyon is a frequently visited and well-known archaeological site. Their petroglyphs are described on many websites, like petroglyphs.us. So, the Dogs aren't too worried about disclosing what they find.

Since the recent rains, animals have come out to take advantage of the relatively rare resource and this makes Biologist Marty Lewis very happy.

Later that night, Ben explains the appearance of the Milky Way and drama ensues as Marty questions his astronomical credentials - Jersey Shore style!

Escape From the Rodman Mountains

Archaeological Site Steward Joe Perry thinks he may have found a new site in the Rodman Mountains. He goes ahead of the group in search of a good campsite.

Meanwhile, while en route to the area, Andrew reminisces about previous times he's been to the Rodmans and the inclement weather he's experienced there. He also makes an irrational connection between the bad weather and a man named Jimbo Slice. Jimbo was last seen in a flash flood in the Rodmans.

The Deluge at Surprise Tank

The Desert Dogs search for Surprise Tank, only to be surprised by rain and a flash flood. Before escaping with their lives, they decide to barbecue one last time.

To clarify, we do not remove 'artifacts', but we do film them when we find them. Removing artifacts is a federal offense.

Expedition to Howe's Tank

The Desert Dogs return for another adventure seeking out (but only filming) ancient archaeological treasures found in the Mojave Desert. Finally, after the flash flood from Episode 7, they are able to reach their destination, the archaeological 'Holy Grail' that is Howe's Tank.

Listen to Art try to create a 7th person perspective, and listen to Ben's utter amazement at stumbling across Howe's Tank. He also gives a very inaccurate narrative of the Tank.

However, Desert Holy Man Joe Perry reliably delivers the real story behind the tank.
